The original practice was founded by Dr. Edward Gallagher in 1964. He retired, still practicing solo, after months of personally introducing Dr. Whitney Reese in 1996. The practice was moved just blocks away to the ground level of the fountain courtyard at Fairfax Square in 2002.

Whitney E. Reese, MD
Dr. Reese earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Chemistry at Wellesley College, Massachusetts. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. She successfully completed her internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Reese has been board certified by the National Board of Internal Medicine since 2003. Dr. Reese is a proud member of the Northern Virginia Medical Society. Studied to become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer in 2018, and added Corrective Exercise Specialist in 2020.
Two daughters and pursuing various exercise keep her busy after hours. In the past, she has played varsity soccer, rowed as stroke for intramurals, run half the Boston marathon, and learned to single scull on the Potomac. Just before her children, she achieved the level of master scuba diver with over 70 dives in the Carribean and Puerto Vallarta. Her passion for horses led to a moderate competence in equitation riding.
